In the past just a small town of fishermen, today Yokohama is the most populated city in Japan after Tokyo. At the end of the Tokugawa period, Yokohama becomes one of the three most important commercial ports of the country, changing radically. Today the harbor area is still the life center of the city, and the seafront is one of the most characteristic and popular places, especially during evenings when the city light reflected on the ocean. The city is also famous for its Chinese district, where it is possible to find real traditional food.

Yokohama is just few minutes by train away from Tokyo. This is why many workers and students decide to live in the city instead of staying in the capital.
